THE AIRCRAFT SO FAR IS SHOWING SIGNS OF HOW IT WILL BE FINISHED IN THE 2-COLOR "LILAC" SCHEME AS DIRECTED BY IDFLIEG IN APRIL 1917. THE UPPERSURFACES (TOP WING NOT SHOWN) HAVE A BASE COAT OF HUMBROL ENAMEL (THE OLD ROYAL PURPLE) WHICH IS SLIGHTLY DARKER THAN THE MISTERKIT GERMAN MAUVE I WILL BE USING. BRASS STRUTS IN PLACE AND PRIMED. THE UNDERSURFACE IS PRIMED IN HUMBROL ENAMEL MIDDLE BLUE AND WILL BE FINISHED USING MISTERKIT GERMAN PALE BLUE. |
|
CLOSEUP SHOWING OFF THE HAND PAINTED PROPELLER. AFTER A PRIME COAT, THE PROPELLER WAS PAINTED OVERALL IN ANDREA ACRYLIC OCHRE. ANDREA DARK BROWN WAS USED TO ROUGHLY PAINT THE LAMINATIONS. COLORED PENCILS IN LIGHT OCHRE, MEDIUM BROWN, AND DARK BROWN WERE RUBBED ON (NOT DRAWN). THE CONSTANT RUBBING WITH THE FIGURE TRANSFERRED ENOUGH OIL ONTO THE PENCIL WAX TO CREATE A FAIRLY REALISTIC APPEARANCE. |
