SPANISH NAPOLEONIC LIGHT INFANTRY UNIFORMS c.1808

Facing color positions are lapels, turnbacks (piping only), collar, cuffs, and cuff-flaps. For clarity, the piping color of all battalions is either white or yellow and matches the button color. Lapels and collars were in the facing color of the regiment (piped white) or in the plain dark blue uniform color piped in the piping (button) color. Cuffs and cuff-flaps are in the facing color piped white or yellow. The light infantry battalion jacket was dark blue without shoulder straps. Note that the rear pockets were piped in red, yellow, or white. The button color for all regiments was either white metal tin (silver for officers) or yellow metal brass (gold for officers). Trousers for all regiments were slightly off white. Information provided is based on Jose Maria Bueno's book "Uniformes Militares Espanoles: El Ejercito y la Armada en 1808"

NOTE ABOUT BUTTONS: the rear pockets of the coat were horizontal with three buttons; the cuff-flap had three buttons (some sources say four buttons); the shoulder straps had one button each; the lapel had seven buttons on each side.
