|
This image is from French Poilu 1914-18, page 27 and shows a French infantry 37mm gun crew in training. When deployed in a fixed position, the wheels were removed. The 37mm cannon equipped all French and American infantry regiments and was used as a close support weapon. The abbreviation 'TR' stands for 'tireur rapide' or quick-firing. |

The model is quite small in 1/35th scale but there were not many resin parts for the main assembly. The PE sheet contained the shield as shown plus a number of smaller details to be added in a later stage. The box at rear is ammunition. |

The cannon is nearly built-up. This is a delicate kit with small resin parts and even smaller PE parts. |

Thumb surgery interferred with modeling and finally, in July, I returned to the workbench. The wheels and main assembly were painted separately. The colors used are my Vallejo mix of French aviation colors used in the 1917-1918 5-color scheme, namely dark green, light green, chestnut brown, and beige (black, the fifth color, was not used). |
