Canon de 37mm TR Modele 1916  French Crew Photo
This image is from French Poilu 1914-18, page 27 and shows a French infantry 37mm gun crew in training.  When deployed in a fixed position, the wheels were removed.  The 37mm cannon equipped all French and American infantry regiments and was used as a close support weapon.  The abbreviation 'TR' stands for 'tireur rapide' or quick-firing.

This image is taken from G.I. Series, No. 7, Over There!, page 38.  This is a photo of U. S. infantry in training somewhere in Europe 1917-1918.  The 37mm cannon equipped all French and American infantry regiments and was used as a close support weapon.  Three 37mm cannons were authorized per U. S. Infantry Regiment.

The model is quite small in 1/35th scale but there were not many resin parts for the main assembly.  The PE sheet contained the shield as shown plus a number of  smaller details to be added in a later stage.  The box at rear is ammunition.

The three-man gun crew in French WW1 uniforms have been assembled, have their accoutrements attached, ready to paint.

IN WORK PHOTO #3

The cannon is nearly built-up.  This is a delicate kit with small resin parts and even smaller PE parts.

IN WORK PHOTO #4

Thumb surgery interferred with modeling and finally, in July, I returned to the workbench.  The wheels and main assembly were painted separately.  The colors used are my Vallejo mix of French aviation colors used in the 1917-1918 5-color scheme, namely dark green, light green, chestnut brown, and beige (black, the fifth color, was not used).
