The Kingdom of Bavaria sided with France simply to preserve herself as an independent state and to prevent Prussia or, more likely, Austria, from annexing her lands.  Large contingents of troops amounting to the equivalent of several infantry and cavalry divisions fought for Napoleon from 1809 - 1814.  The distinctive cornflower blue uniform jacket and the crested helmet identified these colorful troops.  The size of the Bavarian army's foot arm grew to twelve infantry regiments, four light infantry battalions, one Grenadier-Guard Regiment, two jager battalions, and one foot battery.   Infantry battalions, line and light, were organized in the French manner with four fusilier, one grenadier, and one voltigeur companies.

CONVERSION KITS - each includes four pairs of arms, four pairs of legs and will build an officer, an NCO, or a soldier of either the line or light infantry.
