Officially titled the 2nd Royal North British Dragoon Regiment, it was popularized to "Scots Greys" because the regiment rode grey horses. It was not totally a "Scottish" regiment and the name was carefully chosen as "North British" to attract recruits from all over Great Britain. It's most famous encounter during the Napoleonic Wars was the charge at Waterloo which temporarily disrupted Napoleon's grand battery which was supporting a nearly successful assault against La Haye Saint. British dragoon regiments were considered heavy, battlefield shock troops and rarely used for reconnaissance and screening duties which were performed by the light dragoon regiments some of whom were dressed and known as hussars. |

CONVERSION KITS - two kits will model the Scots Greys. HX3200 offers the most choice and will build one officer or guidon bearer or trooper or trumpeter. HX3403 is an "economy" kit has just enough parts to build one NCO or trooper. All kits are mounted. |

DRAGOON GUARDS AND DRAGOONS 1812-1815

The 6th Inniskilling Dragoon Regiment is typical of all of the dragoon and dragoon guard regiments of the British Army in the helmet that they wore. Only the Scots Greys differed with their unique fur bonnet. This particular regiment along with the 1st Royal Dragoons and the 2nd Scots Greys Dragoon made up the famous Union Brigade that did so well at Waterloo. The unofficial title of "Union Brigade" was used to refer to the origin of each of the regiments: the 1st Royal Dragoons were styled as "English", the 2nd Scots Greys were styled as "Scottish", and the 6th Inniskillings were styled as "Irish", thus representing the union of Great Britain. |
||
CONVERSION KITS - kit series 756.1xx will make a mounted dragoon and kit series 756.2 will make a dragoon on foot standing with his horse. The title of the kit is "6th Inniskilling Dragoons" but it actually applies to all Dragoon Guard and Dragoon regiments except the Scots Greys. Two other "economy" kits are offered with fewer "conversion" parts, HX3201 and HX3202. |
