Russian cuirassier regiments were the shock cavalry of the battlefield. By 1812, there were ten regiments each distinguished by a facing color and white or yellow button color. The cuirass was enameled black iron with a front and back plate. This item and the large caterpillar-combed helmet further identified these heavy cavalry troops. |
